Exercise #1

To do:

Explore photo essays online.  You’ll see that there are so many kinds, so many ideas! The subject matter is endless.  The structures vary widely.  You can start on our class site’s resources tab or dive in anywhere online to find photo essays that interest and engage you.

Choose one that you’d like to show to the class and talk about with everyone.

By Sunday evening, post it to your site with a link.  Introduce the photo essay and say why you chose it; consider the interplay between text and image.  What do you see at work in the photo essay?   What stands out to you?  What makes it strong? How is it built/structured?  Why?  What questions do you have?  What elements might you use in your own photo essays? (300+words)

Due: Sunday evening, May 14th.
